Preliminary (5/13 eps)
You know, I really wanted to enjoy this anime. I'm a big fan of science fiction and philosophy, and was looking forward to show, especially because of all the hype.

I consider myself pretty bright -- above average intelligence. This anime makes me feel stupid. It's not that the concepts are difficult to understand, its the poor way that they're presented. I can understand tools such as suspense and mystery, but this show didn't throw a single bone. I had no idea what was going on at all about 90% of the time.

I feel like their attempt to make things seem disconnected and mysterious fell flat. They brought it to a level that was too extreme -- It's impossible to follow. Apparently this is one of the reasons the show is so "intellectual." The viewer has to make their own conclusions, but like I said, it's not only impossible to follow, but they give you nothing to make conclusions FROM. I can't even tell you what I've watched in six episodes -- over half the length of the whole show.

The pacing is like nails on a chalkboard. Basically, there is no dialogue, and when there is, it's extremely uncomfortable. Maybe thats what the show was going for, but it's hard for me to imagine any viewer genuinely enjoying it.

Maybe my untrained brain and taste can't see this anime's true glory, but I'm willing to bet most of the people who appraise this anime are totally pretentious fakers trying to look smart.
