World Trigger is an anime that will please a lot rpgs fans because
there're so many elements in it that make you think they would
suit well in an (semi sci-fi setting) rpg game much more than SAO would in fact.

World trigger focus a lot on the characters and world building like
Trail of serie do (Sky, Cold steel, etc). So you've to get into them
first and focus less on the hero because he is part of it.
He isn't the one making the world spin like in usual shounen manga.

Another thing that people should also accept is that Osamu, the hero
is not a fighter/attacker/dps class, that's Kouga role. Osamu is more
a support tank and Chika is the mage. Kuga is the one who is overlever up
and is caring Osamu and Chika through speed level up.
That's is good and also bad thing. It's good because that make Osamu
and Chika level up fast but bad because they don't have time to adapt and make mistakes.

Thing you've to keep in mind with normal training, Chika and Osamu coul've only fight decently or good only between 2-5 years of training. That's someting you need to keep in mind and A LOT of NPCs will repeat that fact which is why they're impressed that hero crew can keep up with them.

Hero growth is slow but I just explained above the reason that a lot of people don't understand because they're not used to slow leveling and Mc having the role of tank and a tank class is fucking slow to level up in any rpg/mmorpg, lol

Another thing that rpg fans will like is the strategic aspect of the combats.
Lot of shounen manga do not cover this part wisely and just go all in in general.
Here it's different, every move/action that someone will make in combat will be
explained which give dpeth to combat and not some mindless firing/attacking.
Also the combat are quite diverse in tactics/approach thanks to the different weapons there're and classes.

Anyway, to finish my review skip the filler arc. Totaly pointless.
