Well, it's nice to finally have a full adaptation of the Berserk manga. The manga is a huge chunk to bite off, so this anime takes a few shortcuts by omitting what are essentially filler arcs of the manga (like the one with the insect girls in the forest) and just sticks to the main point of introducing the characters and getting Guts' group together.

The biggest shortcoming is the art. The characters all look more like robots than people, with empty eyes and expressionless faces. I understand the use of CGI since there's so much source material to cover and probably scant time to do it in, but greater care should be taken with the design of the characters, such as Attack on Titan did with its beautiful character design.
