When I first began this anime and have gone through a couple of reviews, my expectations were high and my reality was low. I began this anime and thought of it very differently and expected it to be annoying, however it turned out to be even better than I expected. However at the time I was turning down many animes and decided to remain devoted to this one- there was something special about it.

This is not one of your typical stories, in which two beautiful, talented beings fall in love at first sight and live happily ever after. This is a story which develops two distinct characters, and brings them together in a very weird way. What I liked about Nodame Cantabile is that things never became very intimate. When relationships develop slowly, I feel as if they are much more precious, and that is why I enjoyed this very much. I personally loved Nodame's character development the most. One might think of her as immature and annoying at the beginning, yet her character slowly and steadily compels the audience to fall head over heels for her. She is eccentric, yet fascinating. Meanwhile, Chiaki is a very inspirational role-model. He stays faithful to his goals and remains ambitious and determined, disregarding relationships with others.

What I also loved about Nodame Cantabile was the appreciation of music. Although I have not watched many animes yet, I was able to observe that they brought in many great musical pieces and even make me become infatuated with the orchestras. They didn't cut them, but instead took time to create tension and suspense, and show the serious and more passionate side to several characters.

Nodame Cantabile also teaches you valuable lessons, as I suppose many great animes tend to do. It manifests the importance of working hard for the things you love, and being persistent. I liked this because it gives the whole anime value and significance, and how the characters approach their struggles made me inspired and I even began going to practice piano again for the past few weeks.

I cannot think of something I disliked about this anime. I enjoyed it thoroughly and there never seemed to be a moment of boredom. The art seemed odd at first, but I didn't mind later after a couple of episodes because of all of the other features. I think that this is an anime for anyone whom loves music, comedy, drama, and -and of course, must have patience. If you have a heart, even a small cold one, give Nodame Cantabile a go.
