For a moment, near the end of the series, I thought Big Order was going to end by retconning the entire series out of existence. I wish it had ended like that, because I want to live in a world without Big Order.

While not the worst show I've ever watched, it is an uncomfortably close second. Every aspect of this show is bad. The premise is Code Geass by way of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in which you take the worst aspects of both shows and synthesize them into a construct of raw human suffering.

Big Order is terrible enough that I am forced to question whether or not Mirai Nikki was some sort of happy accident, a cosmic coincidence where the stars aligned in such a way as to permit a work of quality to emerge fully formed.

There are numerous moments in Big Order that I feel are meant to be constructed like the climax of a particularly well-designed mini-arc in JoJo. The moments feel like they should be cool and perhaps would be, were the show any good. There are a scant few good ideas hidden among the rubble of my destroyed respect for Sakae Esuno.

Things this show treats as normal, perhaps even good, and sometimes as a joke: Incest. Handcuffing someone to a bed so you can force them to impregnate you. Blackmail. Murder, so long as you were made really sad by something that person did to you.

I want to summarize the plot, but it's incoherent at best and baffling at worst.

There are actual, severe and noticeable problems with how the shots are composed and how the show is edited together. The animation is mostly fine, with no hilarious or aggressively terrible mistakes, but does nothing special. There are a number of sequences, especially toward the end, where they are absolutely attempting to be artistic in their presentation, but just comes off as lazy or confusing. There is a long sequence during the final episode in which everything is in black and white with a heavy filter overlay that seemed like it hoped to mimic the final scene of Gunbuster, bringing color to the world in one glorious moment, but forgot to actually build up to make that a meaningful transition.

Some of the music is good. I like the track that plays over the episode preview, but I suspect I was just happy to hear that tune because it meant the episode was over.

The only good thing about this show is that it's 10 episodes long instead of 12 or 13.

This is not even enjoyably bad enough to drink to with friends. If you want something that's entertaining in its incompetence, I'd suggest Mayoiga.

I would rate this show a 0/10 if that were an option. There is no merit here, no enjoyment to be had. The world would be a better place if this show did not exist.
