My first reaction as this anime began was oh god not another one, as I had recently watched Log Horizon, and Sword Art Online (both seasons for both). I had also just finished One Punch man and was looking for something to recapture the fun I had.

-Story
Despite the story having been cut and shortened from what I could tell (missing plot points, and conversations left half-way) the story for the most part made sense. Despite the hidden aspects of the plot, the story doesn't feel forced, and has a nice flow to it.

-Art
Each character looks unique and easy to differentiate. Despite certain art assets looking old (eg. bad cg skeletons in the first 2 mins of the first episode) none of them look bad. Even the old art assets fit the anime, and sometimes even add to the anime's charm.

-Sound
The sound effects always add to the impact of an action, and sometimes even manage to make you just listen instead of see. Each character sounds different although some fall to the super high pitch territory some may find annoying.

-Character
As mentioned, since each character looks and sounds different they are easy to identify. Most characters are only glossed over as the anime is quite short and goes into the plot before much self explanation happens. The characters hopes and dreams become clear from the actions they take, although some will take a while to figure out. Some side characters end up being a bit flat, but the world building makes you believe that you just missed the parts that gave them more depth. In the end the characters are fitting for the plot.

-Enjoyment
This anime felt like a perfect mix of One Punch Man, Log Horizon, and Sword Art Online. It managed to conjoin the humor from One Punch Man, with the political intrigue of Log Horizon, and tied it all together with the action of Sword Art Online. I had an absolute blast watching, and re-watching, and re-watching, and re-watching this anime, and I will probably re-watch it again in the future.

-Overall
I gave this anime a 10 not because it was flawless, but because the flaws add to the experience. Overlord is an anime that if you like the premise, once you start won't stop. It is an anime that makes the 24 min episode seem like 12 min episodes at most, and when it is done you wish for more. This was at least my opinion.

My fingers are crossed for season 2
