Katanagatari was a weird show. It started well, plateaued to just good, and then finished really strong, but had a meh resolution after the key ending.

I did really like some of the unconventional romance between Togame and Scichika. It was endearing and pretty funny at times. It did annoy me some of the times where Togame's complete failure at communication caused relationship tension (as it really irks me when this is overplayed), but outside of that I highly enjoyed it.

The story progression was solid, and I liked the protagonist characters. The villains were fine but they could have been a little more exciting. Especially the Maniwa Corps with the exception of the main head.

If I had any major complaints about the show it would be that the story felt almost too smooth. I felt like until the climax of the show, I could kind of see everything coming. The way they got one sword every single episode did that make the show paced well, but also very predictable and as mentioned too smooth.

Like I said though, I loved the last two episodes. They were dank. Not exactly the resolution I was hoping for, but the climax was freaking great. This is a good show, but definitely not great. A solid 7.0
