Story 6:
The story of Space Dandy and his space crew, in space, is largely an episodic comedy. Very little information carries over to subsequent episodes. While several episodes exist in their own universe entirely. First half was relatively hit or miss, while the second half was rather enjoyably. A few episodes were quite praiseworthy, such as one of the more serious stories where Dandy encounters a rare species of alien, a little girl, whom he has to escort to collect the bounty on but bonds with.
Art 9:
My gods the spectacle that is Space Dandy is a beautiful viewing experience. Even during the episodes I wasn't very fond of, the art itself made it worth watching. Use of contrasting colors, explosive particle effects and interesting character designs were glorious.
Sound 8:
The OST of this anime largely consisted of jazzy grooves that just made you feel cool listening too. Very befitting of our MC Mr. Dandy. Worthy of special praise is the true OP which is fantastic. Let it be known that there were no tracks that I disliked or felt didn't belong in the scenes that they came from.
Character 5:
While Dandy and his crew were certainly fun to watch, there was little in the way of character development. As I stated prior, the series is largely episodic. Most of the time you could just assume that each new episode was a Dandy from a different universe. Regardless, there were enough new characters to keep interactions fresh and interesting.

Space Dandy is a spectacle to watch. You can enjoy an episode at any time, and friends can jump into the show at pretty much any point, making it very accessible. While it may not be a masterpiece, Studio Bones has certainly put out a very good show. Looking forward to watching the second season.
