Inuyasha is a classic anime; if you are put off by the fact it is a bit old, don't be. Despite having "poorer" quality animation than modern anime, the drawers did a pretty good job paying attention to detail. While some characters felt a bit generic (like all anime), you still gradually fall in love with characters. My favorites in particular are Miroku, Sango and Shippo. Each characters are pretty amazing in their own rite and everyone (except for Kagome) you'd probably think are pretty amazing in battle. The characters are fairly likable and each character has a decent background story. The interactions between the main characters I think help carry the anime.

I remember watching this when I was very young but didnt' remember majority of the story. Recently rewatched it and it is pretty decent. The base plot is pretty weak though and VERY simple but the pros always say "Simple is more." It's not overly complicating MAIN story so it's easy to get hooked but the side-arcs or average episode plots are pretty complicating and confusing if you aren't familiar with/accepting of Japanese culture and Asian mythology. Inuyasha heavily mixes the superstitious culture of Japan with spirits and demons with Chinese mythology.

I do have SOME complaints about Inuyasha. First things first is the generic characters of Kagome and Inuyasha. Sure there are plenty of generic characters in Inuyasha and some can argue "well if there's so many generic chars, why do you consider this good?" I think the fact that they have generic characters yet made them lovable is a feat of its own. Another is complete disregard for rules of reality of its own world. For comedic purposes you can break that rule I understand but it is unrealistic in certain situations. There are times when Inuyasha is seriously vulnerable and should have suffered more harm than he actually did.

Another complaint is the vague storyline allowing the anime to fit in as much filler-like arcs as possible when needed; force-creating side arcs that are full of holes. Another complaint is the reviving the dead part; I am a firm believer in anime if you kill off an anime character, you should never bring them back barring flashbacks. Other actions are a bit strange but I don't want to include too much as there are spoilers. But like when the enemy has a chance to either kill Inuyasha or Kagome but don't to be smug. Final complaint is how Kagome is one of those female characters who really can't exist without her "significant other." Without Inuyasha, Kagome herself isn't a full or complete character; which by some viewers are distasteful (means the female character is weak and their only purpose in the story is for romantic purposes for the male character who must overcome difficulty). Note I say not COMPLETE CHARACTER, as she is useful many a times and crucial to overcoming many antagonists.

Despite the complaints I didn't find myself overly disgusted or even slightly affected. The music and the art is very good. This is a must watch for anyone who plans on watching anime/manga. I recommend this as one of top must watch lists. I wouldn't compare this to masterpieces out but is an instant classic like Dragon Ball or Yu Yu Hakusho or Rurouni Kenshin.
