I can actually see why people calling this a masterpiece. I hope tho i can prove you why i say its a 7.
Firstly i would like to start about the art style an animation which was literally captivating.I can describe it with the words "Just beautiful". A complete eyefull! There was details when it was needed and simple scenes in order to pass simple emotions.Almost perfectly depicting emotions and the situations. Almost, noth completely perfect.
About the story, is about about 2 very good friends. It is rather simple and nothing serious to it. That doesn't make it bad. The thing is . . . that inside the story they put an immerse amount of poetic stuff and existential questions in order to overshadow some of the anime flaws and awake the viewers emotions! (I will further refer to the flaws section)Basically, its all about their relationship and the hardships they will face in life.
The sounds are simple and fitting the show. Nothing unusual or really special. Simple is a nice thing remember.It means there was no flaws, as well as there was nothing immerse!!
Now the characters. . . I personally found it lacking here.There was the introduction and that was all. No emphasis or what they did in their life! Why they became this way? Many many questions left unanswered and no reasons to display their actions.

Personally i found this anime lacking in many ways more than 1. The characters were lacking. More importantly the story was lacking. The were huge holes and unanswered questions concerning the story. In addition to those problems, it had some plot convenient moment but that is something minor. WHAT I Actually hated is the HUGE Amounts of poetry and existentialism problems. Its okey to be used in order to wake emotions, but it was overused in order to cover its obvious lack of plot,development and story.I mean literally there were 40+ mins of looking at the background magnificent art plus some symbolism and hearing to poetical stuff ...What was it all about?A boy stuck in the past, afraid to face the future. . .an immature character that didn't got developed for over 10+ years...Last but not least, after it conveys its emotion there is an plenty of forced melodrama . . . it really exaggerated every minor problem. . .(for some its hard to detect but its there.... you cannot miss it)
In conclusion, we are talking about a really childish story relying on the emotions to win over the viewers with many and serious flaws. It was a really good emotional ride, but objectively this shows was a mess. You can easily appreciate it for its art and emotional content thus im recommending it to everyone who is looking for a "Feels" ride.Not something great tho...
Personally tho i found it really melodramatic and frustrating. . .
