Firstly Mekakucity Actors had a great concept for their stoy. But this story not only got it a good score on my end but it's also the reason why I didn't give it a 10. The story is very well thought and compiled together but the only problem with it is that the story was all over the place and if you didn't pay attention you were going to get left behind and have no idea what is happening and at first I did get left behind. It wasn't until later that a friend had told me about the story.
The Art in the anime was superb. it's used of flat colours and what seems to be a simple style really gives it that atmoshpere and setting which it works very well with in my opinion with it being set probably in the future. The colours really works well to give it that furturistic feeling. Further more the style of drawing and animation all blend in well with the rest of the world. This art style could have been disaterouse but they pulled it off and it came out beautifully.
The characters all had a well planned personality which all suited not only their design but the story and their backstory very well. I don't have much to comment on the characters art from that they were well designed and practically hand crafted for this type of anime.
Setting was well done as it uses the Modern cities of the modern world but with a twist of the future in which I believe to be 10 or 20 years in the future. The setting works well with the story and the characters and that setting with the art it what gives it the atmosphere that it gives off when watching it.
Final thoughts:
Overall this anime was very entertaining but it will lose attention if people don't pay attention to the story. Mekakucity Actors was very well planned and makes use of no Main stream cliché's which is what i really enjoyed about this. To conclude I would reccomend this anime to anyone and it will definitly be worth a rewatch in the futue. You did a great job Shaft Studio's and I look forward to watching more of your works such as the Monogatari series.
