Bakemono no Ko (The Boy and the Beast) is an anime movie from the director which already have given us amazing anime movies like Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt through Time and Wolf Children. So obviously I had high expectation while watching this movie.
Plot:
Well without spoiling much I would say it’s about a boy(REN) whose mother died and he was left out of frustration that his father didn’t even bother to funeral thus he had to stay with its other relative which he didn’t wanted to do so he ran away from home and eventually end up in an place called Juutengai which is a secret city of beast which even have the potential to be GOD .One of the potential candidate is KUMATETSU who is lil bit Rambo delinquent because of which nobody in juutengai wanted to be his disciple so he end up choosing that REN as his disciple . Story start to unfold how KUMATETSU and REN grow eventually learning and teaching things to each other.
Character:
Most of the time is occupied by kumatetsu and REN so their characters are very much developed and likeable but apart from that we actually don’t have any particular connection with side character. But then again they do their part equally well.
Art & Sound:
Well the ART is something I could say it as mesmerizing be done by it. So fluid so colourful especially scenes from juutengai is so bright. Even the fight scene in the end looks stunning.
When it comes to sounds it doesn’t have any particularly good ost but the sound effects given in the fighting scene is really good and the job done by voice actor is also very much good especially the REN voice is perfect.
Overall verdict:
Well it is 2 hour long movie but still it manages me not to bore at any moment. I really enjoyed the relation and the interaction between kumatetsu and Ren. It has a proper ending which I really like because there are many of the anime movies which make me feel like damn this need a next part to be satisfied.
People who like a feel good anime movies defintily should check it out. Apart from that people who like slice of life and shounen in general would definitely like it. I would give an overall rating of 7/10.
