The 2nd Season of Fate/Zero surprised me in many ways but delved far too deep into its overly poetic and incomprehensible story towards the end. It is no shock that the animation remains beautiful, particularly in the fight scenes. There were many aspects of the story that I loved such as the addition of intriguing backstory for a few of the characters as well as progressively darker themes and characters. But the show sometimes strays away from these things and becomes a disengaging mess of poetic nonsense; however, the majority of the show is not like that, so it does not detract from the experience too much. The opening theme, yet again, took a while to grow on me, but it now one of my favorites. As for the score, it did not amaze me in any way, but it was respectable nonetheless. There are less characters in the 2nd Season which may seem like a negative; however, the show uses this as advantage giving the viewer more time with the remaining characters. My biggest complaint with this series is the ending. The poetic bullshit I was writing about before comes to a painful climax in the last few episodes. This anime is good but not great.
