When I looked through these reviews I seen a trend that is common among not only anime/manga circles but also in book vs. movie adaptations. Most people are reviewing this anime by stacking it up against it's manga. Where does it say anything about a comparison to the manga in the rubric? This is a common fanboy/fangirl issue. When you critically review a piece of work, you are to review it fairly and only really draw comparisons to other works like that work. You wouldn't compare the Mona Lisa with Shakespeare's Othello right? They're two totally different animals.

So, when you review Tokyo Ghoul Root A, you really should only be comparing it with other anime, not with the manga. Using that concept, I have found that this anime stacks up very well with it's peers. Yes, there are some plot holes and the occasional, "wait, why did he do that," but for the most part, the story is somewhat easy to follow. The artwork and music are both beautiful. Tokyo Ghoul has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard: Glassy Sky, Unravel, and the CCG theme(what, I like the beat). The characters are all generally likeable. I personally enjoy Tsukiyama, Juzo, and Nishiki just to name a few, but there some I wish there was some more clarity on like Shachi, Yomo, and Amon. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this anime, in spite of "inferior it is to the manga." I recommend it 8/10.
