Mixed Feelings
***CONTAINS SPOILERS AFTER THE THIRD PARAGRAPH*******

Honestly, I don't know where to start.
For starters, a bit of background about myself. I like watching things that are, excuse my language, f*cked up. Fate/Zero, Psycho-pass, Another, etc. When you introduce Owari no Seraph like that, I perceive unrealistic expectations from this anime. Therefore, the second episode was a complete disappointment.

Now this is a little bit off topic but I have a term for a certain category of anime; Dream-like genre. Where the MC is a male that goes to school in a fantasy world and grows a harem. Examples of anime in this category include Seiken Tsukai no World Break, Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance, Absolute Duo, and many more.

Back on topic, Owari no Seraph seemed like a mass destruction "f*cked up" anime but took a full 180 towards this dream-like genre. More detail will be below the spoiler line. However, for those reading this review that have not watched Owari no Seraph, I recommend it as long as you lower your expectations on the plot. "Expect the unexpected", term does not fit with this anime. The animation was very nicely made and the fighting sequence really put you on edge. You expected what was coming next but dragged it along for a long time to make you click the next episode. Owari no Seraph, in my opinion, is not a must watch anime. However, if you find yourself with a lot of free time, this anime is not a bad place to start your binge watching.

Now, almost everything in this story was predictable. "Mika is going to come back to life as a vampire"... IT HAPPENED. "They will meet on the battlefield": IT HAPPENED.

Everything from start to finish was predictable. The only times I could not predict what had yet to happened was when I was too engulfed in the action and mass destruction, that I forgot this anime was a dream-like genre. This means that during the fight scene at the end, I definitely thought that Yuu's friend had all died. But to my disappointment, they were alive and well. I hope something happens to them in the second season; but for now, nothing happened.
** Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't like the characters; in fact, it's the opposite. I really like how the characters were developed, even though it is slowly turning into a harem (with Mika). However, my love for psychological, horror, mass murder anime and the unrealistic hype from the first episode, really gets in the way.

Anyways, I don't write a lot of reviews so I'm not sure how to end this. If you're like me and want to watch something really messed up, this anime is not for you.
