Hikaru ga chikyuu an ikatoro is a bittersweet romance novel that is really good and enjoyable. It follows the 2 main characters koremitsu and Hikaru and as it usually is ,a wide variety of girls.
Hikaru is the kind of playboy you see in movies or you see women fantasising about. He is that overly pretentious guy who some how turns out to be romantic for reasons we males can never decipher. He is the guy who'd go to a woman watching flowers and say something pretentious like “ the flowers are soothing but not as soothing as you”. Oh he has a nice face and manages to make everyone fall in love with him. And by everyone I mean everyone. His character is very well done. He is exactly the way you expect a non manly popular male to be. He gets especially annoying when he goes on long essays about flowers. But this annoying is intentional. The author wants us to shout back at him “ they are just flowers damn it!!”.
Koremitsu In 2 words is a shonen protagonist.
1) pure - check
2) straight forward- check
3) shouting random lines like “I'll protect you” at cliche moments - check
4) not being able to see the most obvious signs that a girl is interested in him - check

Thankfully though he doesn't pull down the series too much and is a nice contrast to Hikaru. He isn't a pervert like Hikaru. And he also knows that the description the women give about Hikaru and the actual Hikaru he knows are so different. It creates a nice dynamic.

Every volume is about a particular girl and a short bittersweet romance. The romance is well done, with enough mystery to keep you entertained. In every volume there is a grandstanding show- off, where our shonen protagonist does something cool and Hikaru fucking randomly becomes Sherlock Holmes. But I can forgive that because the final conclusion is satisfying. Every single time.

In volume-5 the book became harem and full on loli. Normally I'd put it down, but the main romance about the girl of that volume was too interesting for me to give it up. Finally I just skipped parts to know what was going to happen. ( it was a bittersweet story about an online friend Hikaru made. That girl was insecure about our nose and koremitsu tried searching for her as she hid. It was bittersweet)

After volume 4 the series becomes Haremy. Even during volume 4 it was like that. But I did not mind it because this series uses harem to fish for jokes rather than a form of wish fulfilment. I found it fine and easily ignorable. Reminds me the start of Nisekoi where harem was used for laughter. Something I enjoyed because of the sheer ridiculousness. The series isn't loli except volume -5 and 2-3 instances in every other volume from vol-4. While I liked her arc, I disliked everything she did after that and just stared in disbelief.( the underage character) .This story isn't realistic with people being practically treated as queens and what-not but in this case it turns out to be an advantage. A story about solving girls problems wouldn't be same if the girl were absolutely normal. That is reality.

Overall- this series is a well done story with well done enjoyable parts and easily ignorable - unenjoyable parts. That I think is important. Sometimes it can get too preachy but that too is ignorable. It isn't a " o-p protagonist, harem, wish fulfilment” this leaves some hope in the medium. It is a solid 8/10.
