Story 9/10
I thought this was a realistic portrayal of what orphans go through. A lot of animes show characters living perfectly fine on their own but here, we see the psychological effect of an orphan moving from one relative to another in addition to the problems he run into due to his unnatural ability to see yokai.

Art 9/10
I thought the presentation of the yokai and supernatural beings were very creative. It's not too graphic but the simplicity in the artistic presentation is very fitting of this anime.

Sound 10/10
The music was very soothing and relaxing since Natsume lives in the countryside. It blended smoothly with the scenes and emotions of the events and scenes.

Character 9/10
I'm super biased about my favorite character (Madara, the cat) because he's just too cute and too adorable. Although he is shown to only enjoy eating, his character development throughout the series showed a different side to him that was subtle in some sense but obvious. You'll get it as the anime progresses to the 4th season. As for the main protagonist (Natsume), I really felt like I understood where he came from and why he acts the way he does. There is a lot of depth in his character and it makes me like him a whole lot more, especially those who care about him because it helps him grow as an individual.

Enjoyment 10/10
Again, the fat cat is my favorite character and he acts like a comedy relief during intense scenes. He's both cute, funny, and reliable. I absolutely adore this character. I also watched this in japanese (not English dubbed) so I thought the voice actor for him did a phenomenal job of portraying his silliness at times.

Overall 10/10
I have watched Mushi-shi which is very similar to the supernatural aspect of this anime, but I thought this anime took me on a journey that was both heart-warming and exciting. At the end of almost all the episodes, Nasume and Nyanko-sensei will arrive home from their adventures in the world of yokai. Natsume's life really touched me. After completing the 4 seasons, I really appreciate people like the Fujiwara's who can change the life of an orphan.
