This manga is apparently based on an rpg I have not played. The story seems like a slice of a bigger jrpg story line. It's a little silly and arbitrary, and I was not engaged by it at all. The setting is a mixed sci-fi and fantasy setting which I personally love, and the whole thing generally whimsical and fantastical.
Despite the silly source material, the art is amazing! I've never seen backgrounds like this in a manga, they are so detailed. There's lots of nice effects like depth of field, not to mention the line drawings themselves are intricate and well done. If you read manga for the art, give this a shot on that basis alone.
I hope this artist goes on to do bigger and better things, because they are massively talented.
