I would suggest watching Clannad (the first season) first before After Story. As the character development is amazing and it is really beautiful to see the relationship in After Story grow from the first season. It is not an anime that has any sentimental kisses at just the right moment to show their enduring love, it is something you can just feel from watching from the first season to this one.
It may sound silly to you. I would have thought so too a long time ago. But I am writing this review now, two years after actually watching this anime. And i have to say, this anime has taught me to be extremely open minded about the anime i watch. This anime does not have one kiss, but this is one couple that has one of the most cherishing love story's out of all the anime I have ever watched.
Be prepared as this stunning story (if watched from the very beginning in Clannad first season) will change your life. Your perspective of life and your attitude and opinions.
I will ensure that this will be the first anime I rewatch when I am married and have a child, as this anime is my inspiration for a beautiful family in the future. Oh my, this is deep and you may think, this otaku girl is really dragging this now. But it is true. THIS is a MUST watch anime, I assure you.
