Elfen Lied is a very well- written story, tainted with enormous quantity of sexual and graphic violence but stil with an underlying softness in it.

Characters : Lucy, a mutated human female born with two horns protruding from her skull called ''Diclonius'' , is the main protagonists of the story. After the result of a pretty traumatic event, she has a double personality that switches according to situations. A side of her is naive, very curious and tender to the people she is attached to; while the other is completely and utterly destructive towards practically every human being she could meet in her path (except Kohta and the others she befriends in her other personality, for some reasons) . This murderous personality is triggered actually by some of her memories. She is found by Kohta and his cousin Yuka by mere accident and from there their corrispetive psycological oddities and attitudes collapses with her.

Kohta is a good guy, pretty friendly but at times annoying. His cousin, which is secretly in love with him, has a more open attitude towards people but she obviously has flaws too. The more prominent one being that she gets overly jealous whenever a girl approaches Kohta. That happens a lot when Lucy is around, btw.

Mayu is a thirteen year old girl that will permanently reside in the home of Kohta later in the story . She is very fragile in terms of emotional managment, stemming from bad parenting that led her to be lonely and a bit distant with the world around her.

Nana is another girl that will live in the home of Kohta (it may be your typical harem-scenario, but i found that it tries not too hard to belong in that category, thank goodness xD) . She is a Diclonius like Lucy, and is ordered to do something very bad to her by a third party as a sort of hitman assassination. Nana is nice too and tries not to use brutal force by any means, and in the end she and Mayu will become good friends since a particular event that will bind them together.

Story : There were a few cliched scenes that i disliked, which contained a bit of fan service, but the ensuing drama managed to get them off quickly. Regarding the drama...well it was TENSE, in the sense that it pulled all the strings regarding the ''feels department'' in your brain and it really gave me the sensation of much highlighted loneliness, amongst all. Diclonius have powerful powers and are a threat to humanity, so the military gets involved very often and the amount of blood and killings is equal to watch a slaughter house with humans as cows being slaughtered. With some melancholic music in the background too.

Sound : It's superb. Composed mainly in a classical symphony style , it really sent shivers down my spine in the most tragic moments. The opening is chanted in a medieval chorus that was done very well, imo. Ending music is nice, but nothing special.

Art : I found it generic, idk why. It just dindt impressed me like the rest, but the backgrounds and the various visual effects were good.

Overall, i felt pretty satisfied with the ending even because the story was not that bad honestly and kept me glued to my seat in some episodes.
