Mixed Feelings
When it comes to turning the life of a hikikomori into an interesting adventure of them trying to over come their social issues, this anime does relatively well. However due to relatively stale premise of the anime, it received the score of 6.

The start (1-8) I would consider a grind, introducing characters in a very typical manner. It becomes very easy to predict the roles of the characters later on, something that I do not personally enjoy.

The mid-section (9-16) is when you start to see the characters fit in their role as expected. They do it well. but as expected. Up to this point not much character development that would save this from the typical romance.

The end of this anime is what I think saves this anime. You find out details about the characters which would actually influence the way they behave, and subjects you to the trauma undergone by these characters, the scary part being how real it could all be.

The final two episodes are highly memorable, and open your eyes as to a very real issue in the world. Anime is often criticised for being unrealistic in both the approach and execution of real world issues, and as the characters are animated become hard to relate to. However this anime goes against this, with both relatable characters and a real world setting, it is easy to see how this could actually be happening right now.

Overall, an anime I enjoyed, and that you should watch if you can watch a slow and boring grind for a great pay off. And no, don't skip the first few episodes, as you do need to at least know some of the characters and how they interact.
