After watching Gungrave I was left feeling somewhat odd about it, even though I had been thoroughly entertained throughout the show as you can tell by my score of this review. I couldn't quite shake the feeling that it was missing something, while I realized that it was rather the opposite.

Gungrave is a good show. The story, a sort of modern-mafia tale with supernatural elements, is interesting to follow, the art is great and in some cases I was quite amazed at the quality of it. The sound/music was not something I really got into that much, it did its job, but there was nothing memorable in there for me. I loved how much the characters developed throughout the show and changed (for better or for worse) leaving me interested in seeing what would happen next. It made me feel something for the characters, so that's a major plus.

My only problem with the anime was really the length, and I might be in the minority about this, but I felt it dragged on by the end. The pacing was great I thought up until perhaps the last 5 or 6 episodes, and to top it all of I'm not sure I really liked the ending. However, I have no problem recommending this show to anyone.
