La Maison en Petits Cubes was a heartwarming, tear-jerking masterpiece I happened to stumble upon. A man goes searching for a pipe he lost and ends up seeing a slide show of memories he has of the past rooms of his house. Doubt I'm the only one that did, but I cried a bit during this. It hit home in several ways and brings back an overwhelming nostalgia for me. Now, for the breakdown.
Story: 9
The story of this movie is a simple but powerful one. A man goes on a journey back through his memories to realize the worth of his life.
Art: 10
Ah, the art. Where should I start? I found the artistic style of this anime phenomenal. The colour schemes were divine. Even the general blue colours had so many different shades to them, very enjoyable.
Sound: 9
I really liked the choice of music for this movie. Not much else to say.
Character: 7
Obviously, there's not much room for character depth within 12 minutes, but the overall theme and message the movie conveys makes it well worth watching.
Enjoyment: 10
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, as I like general surreal stuff.
Overall: 9
Overall, La Maison en Petits Cubes is a fantastic short, but powerful film that inspires a lot of introspection even upon finishing. I highly recommend it.
