I give this an 8. Breaking it down, it adds up to a low 9. I wanna give it a 9, but its a very strong 8. After some thought, I think this is why:
I'm into strong female leads. I love to feel the ups and downs of a well drawn out character and as engaging and fun as the story flowed and intertwined for me, I felt it lacked the emotional impact that would of scored it higher. Meaning, instead of just smiling if I could of laughed more, split a side; not just somber some, but actually have to pause the movie to ask Tito to get me some tissue.
Overall, I did like it, a lot. There was a little more to this movie than I expected going in storywise, that was good. Chiyoko is a delightfully natural character that is well fleshed out and probably the reason why I wanted to give it a 9, but its still a strong 8, like 8.999.
