What I disliked was the character development of everyone except Rei's because it seemed to me like the 3 main characters developed before the show is set. And as for the red head it doesn't really explain why he became so bastardy really...
However, with the story I couldn't help but think "this has got to be more than bromances." And found myself saying "They are so gay for each other" more than once per episode. On a side note I have nothing against homosexuals or lesbians.
