I wasn't expecting everything that I got from Kotoura-san. The animation right off the bat reminded me of a cutesy, light hearted anime, but it's really much more than that. The characters are unique and very individualized, with several having darker backgrounds than expected. The story easily swings back and forth between serious and light hearted comedy. Overall, I would highly recommend this anime. It was a fun watch from beginning to end.
