Reviews

I'm quite surprised that the anime has received quite a lot of negative reviews. The artwork did put me off initially but as episodes passed by, I began to love the anime and enjoyed it enormously.
The storyline and the characters were the greatest assets to the success of the anime; which improved with each episode. I also deeply appreciate the subliminal message of the show that many failed to see: the psychological effect of bullying (leading to Sunako's social anxiety disorder) and media's perception of what beauty is which is quite subjective. While Kyouhei, Takenaga, Ranmaru and Yuki did want to turn Sunako into a "beautiful" lady, they came to realize that instead of forcing society's perception of beauty upon her, they accepted her for who she truly was and became Sunako's strongest support group. In the end, we were left with a bigger message: a woman's beauty is her self-confidence and acceptance of herself. I hope that everyone would give the anime a chance and take home the bigger message.
