Now before I start this review, I wanna say that this is arguably my favorite anime but I know that doesn't make it the best anime ever, as it does have flaws and for some people, they don't really like horror/mystery. However please note that this is based on my opinion and I do not think that this anime is perfect but it is amazing in my eyes, now moving on.......

Story: 10
The story starts off with the main protagonist Niiya Teiichi who encounters a ghost named Kanoe Yuuko who has amnesia and is trying to solve the mystery about her past, the two look to start a paranormal investigation club in order to solve this mystery and soon enough they start hearing about "paranormal encounters" throughout the school. It starts off fairly slow and to most that is a turn-off, however that is mainly because they are introducing other characters, while trying to keep the cheerful side and comic relief in the anime, as you see later when things really start to heat up. The anime during the second half really knows how to rip your heart out and then shove it back in, only to then rip it out once more, so basically this is an emotional roller coaster and the more we find about Yuuko's past the more the feels start to kick in. Another great thing about the anime is the why they implement the "horror factor" they give shadow Yuuko a more sinister and evil look and make her out to be somewhat evil, rather we find out there is more to it then just that. In terms of romance and the relationship between the two, the anime allows for some comic relief and some really heart warming moments while also giving the emotion roller coaster all at the same time. Overall the execution is fairly good and the pacing can be considered a bit wayward but overall it is truly amazing how it can have your eyes glued to the screen while you watch some truly breathtaking scenes.

Art: 10
There are mixed views on this, some would say the animation is fairly average and that is a fair point. However I feel as if the art doesn't necessarily mean it has to have A+ animation, rather it has to suit the anime. Which it certainly does in this case, the art style and animation is very gloomy and dark and in my opinion it truly brings the best out in each scene and really gets the viewer immersed into the atmosphere which it brings, sure it's not always gloomy and dark but it certainly puts chills down your spine at times while watching it. Overall the art is amazing and it suits the anime perfectly.

Sound: 10
This is probably the strongest suit of the anime in my opinion. The opening is amazing, as is the ending, both worth listening to by themselves. But what is truly amazing is the soundtracks during the anime, some of them are outstanding and they just add to the emotional roller coaster that one feels, even listening to some of the soundtracks by themselves will crush your heart and have you teary. Mostly this is opinion based and some people won't necessarily like the music but most will say it is amazing. Both the Japanese version and the English version are also really good, the voice actors all suit their characters and always execute when needed to make the character truly feel real. Not much else I can say, I would give it a higher rating if I could.

Characters: 8
Now this is one area where it is hard to give it a high rating as some of the characters are done brilliantly and some are fairly average, it is also hard as there is only four main characters and a couple of side characters. First we have the main protagonist Teeichi who is fairly cliche and doesn't have much of a personality, rather he feels like your classic "nice guy" this doesn't necessarily make his character bad, however he does feel a bit one-dimensional and un-original. Next is the lead female, Yuuko, who is an absolutely amazing character, as she can be carefree and seem innocent, while at the same time being dark and having a mysterious aura about her. She truly makes you feel sad and happy deep down, as her story and life truly grip you and give you a deep understanding into her character and definitely feels like a real person. The last two mains Kanoe, Kirie and Okonogi, Momoe are fairly polar opposite to each other, One being fairly straight forward and tends to act as the responsible person, like a parent. The other Okonogi is fairly carefree and tends to be more of a comic relief and tries to be the third girl in the relationship but most of the time gets stood down by the other characters. Both of them are pretty well written characters and serve their purpose in the overall story. In conclusion the characters are all fairly well written besides maybe Teiichi, but even with that flaw the characters overall are pretty amazing.

Enjoyment: 10
Overall: 10
To conclude I would like to say this review is fairly opinion based and may feel bias, but I do honestly feel that this anime deserves a good score, it's not prefect but it is something worth watching and in my eyes is considered a masterpiece.
