Everything about this movie was breathtaking, except for the fact that they were trying to push a relationship between a high school student and an adult nearly twice his age. If only one of them was aged up or down five or six years, I'd be a lot less uncomfortable with this whole film. In fact, I'd give it a perfect ten in every respect.
But the truth is that no matter how you cut it, a relationship between a teenager and an adult can NEVER be healthy or non-exploitative. No exceptions. Genders of those involved do not matter. The fact that this film portrayed such a relationship in a beautiful, romantic light honestly made me a bit queasy, and soured the whole film.
