Everything in this anime is about symbolism. Fore sure, all your questions won't get an answer, and that's what will make you think about this anime still after finishing it. The tone in the anime drastically changes and gets really serious compared to the beginning, that's why it's really worth watching to the end. The artwork makes it a very original anime, the animation and the sound are really well done and perfectly fit it. The plot is that well elaborated, that you won't even try to guess what will be happening next.
But the most important to me are the characters. I've never seen an anime with that much character development, and for each of them. I just had the impression that there were 9 main characters. Even after, you still don't know much about their past though.
As said before, this is all about symbolism, and this anime is a masterpiece in the way it's perfectly done and convincing to give its message.
