Hmmm. This one is a tricky one. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, is another psychological-type anime. If you know who I am, I've appeared on many supernatural, psychological animes. By 'many' I of course mean two. I've appeared on Death Note and Parasyte -the maxim-. Two very great animes. Don't get me wrong, I love Higurashi, I really do, but just not this one. This one isn't as great as Kai.

First of all, Maebara Keiichi moves to a "Peaceful village" called Hinamizawa. If you noticed the quotes, it isn't really that peaceful. He finds himself beating the crap out of his two friends. I hope that wasn't a spoiler. Because you see that in the first scene. I'll continue. Maebara Keiichi is just a simply teenage 16 year old that hangs out with utterly random people he just met.

But, as time proceeds, he finds out that his friends aren't as innocent as they claim to be. Keiichi ends up almost getting drugged, and beating the living shit out of the two girls that he had as friends. No, no! Don't write a fanfiction about it! God...

Anyway, the other thing to it is, a curse called Oyashiro-sama, or the curse of Oyashiro-sama, that's a better thing to call it, kills people every year for the fifth year in a row. This is set in 1980 sometin, I can't remember. But, people believe it to be the Oyashiro-sama curse that kills the people, but people suffer from something called the Hinamizawa Syndrome.

The Hinamizawa Syndrome is a deadly disease that causes people to commit suicide. I really hope that wasn't a spoiler. But, it's only if you get to a certain stage of the disease. I think it's like stage five or six or something like that. Eventually, you'll get to the point where you'll claw your own throat out. Yep. That can happen.

There are some funny moments in this anime, but most of the moments are dark and really, really messed up. I'm not going to explain the scenes in detail, but there is a lot of gore. Some people think the bad quality makes the anime scarier, but that makes no sense to me.

Now... the quality of this show is kind of bad. The resolution isn't too great, the graphics are like... under the standard, but this was made in... the year 2006 or something? I don't know, someone can remind me. But, that would probably explain the bad quality. I know I'm going overboard with this quality stuff... BUT ITS FOCKIN' IMPORTANT, AIGHT MATEYS?

As I say in most of my reviews (Only have two), the soundtrack of the anime is amazing. I am a diehard fan over music, especially Japanese music. I don't often listen to English music, because I'm not into that type. Japanese music really stands out to me, the instruments, the vocals... It's all amazing. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni explains all those visuals in it's OST. It truly is magnificent.

Now... for the characters... Eh, all the characters in this anime are all kinda fucked up, but whatever.

Maebara Keiichi was transferred to Hinamizawa after a tragic accident in his other town. Eh, let me make up a name. Nothinamizawa. Perfect. So after being transferred from Nothinamizawa to Hinamizawa, he meets a group of "friendly" school girls that "definitely" do not want to harm him at all. Okay. Moving on. Did I explain enough? Did I mention he steals somebody's bat and beats the shi- okay moving on.

Sonozaki Mion and Shion are twins. But, you wont figure that out until the second or third arc. But, if you read this review, I don't even know if this is a spoiler, considering it's just revealing another character. But, Mion spends most of her time at home training to be the next Sonozaki head while Shion does... I don't know, stuff? However, Shion does not go to the same school as Keiichi and the others. Shion goes to a different school, somewhere else. Shion is also the older sister, although is mostly mistaken for the younger one for some reason I don't quite understand. Good enough information.

Houjou Satoko, simple, blonde haired little girl that is completely innocent in every single Higurashi arc. Has never killed anyone in an arc. I'm going to keep the ongoing character summaries short, since I'm really tired at this moment.

Furude Rika, blue hair, I think, then changes the color of her hair in season 2, little girl, little girl means over 1000 years old, that is actually the main character of the show. It may not seem like it at first, but Furude Rika is actually the main person of the show. In season 2. But, who cares.

RYUUGUU RENA!!!

Rena is so awesome. I can't explain why I like Rena so much. Maybe it's because she's unique? I don't know, but she just is so... uh... kawaii? Nah, she's just so cute at times, and she often takes people home... that's a habit she has to get rid of, and anything cute she'll often want to take home. She's not really that innocent, but actually, she is. Sorry... I keep lying...

Aight. Enough with that. I don't really enjoy this season as much as the second one, but this season of Higurashi is still pretty good, considering it was the first season, and has bad graphics, oops, sorry. I gotta get away from the graphics section. But, other than that, it's really an amazing anime. I know, my overall for the anime is 7, but isn't that a good score? That's pretty good to me. Hope you enjoy the anime, as much as I did, if not, even more... or less. But I wouldn't want that. Neither would you.
