Unfortunately, this world is imperfect, and there is not a one ideal thing. Welcome to the NHK is not perfect, too, but it's damn good.
As a comedy, Welcome to the NHK works quite well, although I don't think it's the best thing about the series. There are some gags that work very well and there are some that don't. To be just, I have to say that it's not easy to make me laugh.
The way series treat the problem of social anxiety and other problems is quite profound and truthful. Moreover, there are some 'moral lessons' (for example, warning against suicide) which are subtle and well-done,
What's very good about the series is it's characters and their relationships, which are done in a really mature and original way. I loved all the main cast, particulary Misaki, and I can say that there is really interesting character development and some unexpected deeds and motifs.
Finally, Welcome to the NHK's great advantage is it's atmosphere, which is deeply touching, bittersweet and genuinely constructed. Not to forget to mention, the series' ST is one of my favorites now, especially 'Hitori Bocchi' song.
Welcome to the NHK is a very good series, as it's not only enjoyable to watch. It also changes you a bit, leaving you with some new thoughts and feelings.
