For every positive, ten negatives

Mirai Nikki is a show with a not so great first episode, but promises to get better. All it does is go downhill.
The plot is about a survival game to decide who will become the next god. Twelve players participate and each one of then have a future diary.
The problem with this is that the potential of the diaries to resolve problems or be used smartly to win battles is totally lost. Most situations where the main characters are in danger or faced with a challenge are resolve by luck or a convenience, or even worse, plain dumbness of the characters.
All the plot holes and continuity mistakes don't help either. When they happen so frequently its difficult to ignore them, and most of them are really avoidable. This is lazy from the writers.
But the worst thing in the show by far are the characters. They are really inconsistent. They chance from good to villainous and vice versa in a blink, and the main protagonist has an incredible ability of forgiveness. A lot of the characters have a really dark past, this could have worked, but the stories are so exaggerated (for the shock) that are difficult to take serious. The most memorable character of the show is Yuno and for good reason. She is entertaining and have some awesome moments, but after the plot twist near the end all her previous actions lack sense. And about the ending, it becomes four episodes too long. The episode that leads to the plot twist is really boring, and after it happens the show that wasn't good, becomes really nonsense. That makes the last episodes really painful too watch.
Not everything is negative, some action scenes are good, and it gets mildly entertaining at moments. The music of the show accompany well the action scenes. The animation is not bad but not good either. The art style is ordinary, making the show loose personality, and the character design fluctuates from really good to weird.
Judging by its popularity and the great opening I was totally mislead to a really disappointing show.
