I had high expectations for root A, the first season got me completely hooked on the series itself that i binge read the 143 chapters in the manga and what did i get in the end? A low budget adaptation that actually shows it by having 12 episodes which wasn't enough to get the story properly or at least decently told, the terrible art style and animation that made me cringe during the 4th and 5th episodes which was basically 50% of the fights in the season, so much filler just so studio pierrot could save money for the episode 10 and 11 which i will admit were the only good thing that pierrot did right and last but certainly not least, they forgot who the main character was by showing very little of him in the first 4 episodes and the giving everyone at the ccg more character development over the more important characters which was in fact filler. The story makes no sense at all considering one day aogiri tree raids cochlea and the next Kaneki shows up at the Anteku for no apparent reason other that to chat with Yoshimura, the story was not progressed properly, they just skipped right through everything from filler to action. Honestly i had high hopes for this season, but the censorship, the low budget, the amount of filler and the lack of actual story completely destroyed them. The real tragedy was giving pierrot the rights to animate tokyo ghoul because they were terrible to this series, fingers crossed for tokyo ghoul brotherhood
