Mixed Feelings
If you look at my picture thinking that Tokyo Ghoul is my favorite anime don't judge a book by its cover. I'm not a person who reads manga, so I know there are answers to some things I question but this review will be in the eyes of someone who only judges anime. This anime had a lot of flaws but did OK not good, not bad, but it's something worth trying out.

Story 5/10: To start off Tokyo Ghoul √A fails to explain clearly as most episodes made me question a lot. Throughout the episodes, characters had kept mentioning or talking about Kaneki the protagonist. Sadly he never does anything in the first episodes. During the first episode, he joins Aogiri, which didn't really give a good explanation why I think it was he wanted to become stronger or something something? However, he did nothing there. However, he captured ghouls without giving a reason AGAIN. The story never explained the purpose or goal of getting Ghouls. Kaneki never did anything through beginning and middle of the season. It had ignored side characters and some main characters and threw them in the trash. When it made Kaneki get his super power it never explained what was that or even mentioned it again. I felt that the story was rushed and if was paced good enough the story would explain more and make this mediocre anime into a decent or even good anime.

Art 5/10: Pierrot studios failed to animate this. The art style was good don't see any horrendous flaws until I saw the animation and animation in fights. During the first episodes of the fight scenes the animation was so bad I felt that animators down at Pierrot studios were bankrupt but still decided to continue making Tokyo Ghoul, and went to Mcdonalds using their internet getting the old PC and using photoshop to animate. Fight scenes were like a slideshow it never gave me chills it was very bad. During the late episodes, however, Pierrot studios kept begging out in the streets and got enough money to make decent art animation for the last fights. Even the opening animation was cardboard.

Sound 8/10: Come on now, its really hard to not like the soundtrack, Unravel is still played in season 2 and is great as ever, it places it in emotional times, its opening was ok I didn't like it but it does fit into the genre. Tokyo Ghouls ED was the best hands down. I don't speak Japanese, but I remember all the lyrics of "Seasons Die One After Another."

Character 6/10: Most characters in the show were forgotten. Picture this its a basketball game and your team is losing, then an underdog comes along and carries your team to victory! The coach was so impressed that in the next game he had completely forgotten about that underdog and placed him on the bench. That's how I felt most characters were introduced. A very few characters were actually shown in the story and they still didn't get much screen time. Touka who played an important role in season 2 was shown quite a bit but was never interesting. In the last episodes of the season I was laughing so hard, Touka ran for three episodes (No spoilers) trying to reach her location. I felt like she was at least 30 miles away or that she is the slowest runner to live. Kaneki the biggest character was somehow never shown in the beginning episodes as much as I wished.

Enjoyment 7/10: As much as I hate this show and its flaws it is decent. It was good in the late episodes but did poorly in the first episodes. It times it had me chill and made me sad but still had flaws.

Overall 6/10: I expected a lot in this anime, however my expectations were not even close to being met, this show wasn't good, however this doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it, its still something worth your time, but now Im going to read the manga.
