Story:
This series is a mixture of shounen and seinen. The story is about 6 teen boys that are brought into a prison-like disciplinary school where they meet Sakuragi Rokurota, a boy year or two older than them. And with Sakuragi's help who they call "bro" their inner core will come to light and turn them into solid men. It has a lot of comical parts, action and struggle. But everything is done in convincing and realistic approach.

Art:
The Graphics are not really striking but not so bad (The villains are really ugly!). There are times that the character's appearances are not consistent. However, The scenery, backgrounds, and the general time setting the story occurs in was shown as you would have imagined it during the war era.

Sound/Music
There is lot of good music throughout the anime. I really like the song “Dear Night Rainbow”. The music corresponds with the dramatic scene. (That scene really made me cry). The japanese dub is very well made and features voice actors such as Romi Paku, Fujiwara Keiji and Oguri Shun who all did an impressive work on their characters and conveyed out their temperament even further. The narrator though is kinda lacking.

Characters:

The characters are all interesting. The main characters have resilient and distinct traits, with quite a bit of character progress and background. The minor characters are equally plausible.

Overall

I really enjoyed this anime. It's a powerful story that shows great friendship and sacrifice. a mature story that is both harsh and idealistic

Note: The anime covered only 100 chapters of the Manga.
