Stop now if you actually want insight to the show and it's story, the next few paragraphs are just me talking about why Clannad is exceptional to someone who usually watches gory shounens.
I jwanted to add a review and rating to make people realize they should watch this. Don't even bother to read my wall of text if you've read other reviews, they might be more helpful. I'm ONLY writing this to reinforce that people should give this a chance by adding my review to dozens there already.
Longer wall of text review:
There's not even a real need to go in depth with why this is good. I'll use analogies and comparisons to convey why YOU should watch this drama instead of talking about the anime itself.
I've been too lazy to register an account here for the longest time, but 20 mins after finishing this anime, here I am writing a review for it. That's how good it is.
I started off as a shounen anime watcher, I originally thought this was going to be another Kawaii pleasantville let's be friends forever and let the good times roll (you get the picture) but it's so insightful on an everyday level that it's nuts. You really shouldn't even be reading this as you'll probably just get annoyed. Go watch it instead and you'll understand!
You MUST watch the first season, not because of plot but to allow yourself a full understanding of the characters and to get attached enough to get the full enjoyment of the second season.
That's all I'm gonna say, this may be the worst review ever, but I'll rambling anyways just to reinforce that you need to watch this, no matter what type of anime you usually watch and how much this strays from your favorite genre.
Watch this show, if you haven't already, you've missed out on a different level of anime experience. My words may seem cryptic now, but if you re-read my review upon finishing Clannad and Clannad Afterstory and still tell me you got nothing out of it, then you must be an idiot.
