Whew, Mirai Nikki. One of the most controversial anime series to ever air: some hate it with a passion whilst some praise it as a masterpiece. It creates a definition for the terms "yandere" and "overly attached girlfriend" and taught me a new meaning of love. For me, it was a roller coaster ride of a lifetime with so many twists and turns that never bored me for a second and believe me, that is a feat indeed. I believe Mirai Nikki is something worth checking out no matter what genre you like and honestly, if you don't like it you don't have to see it another episode. Ever.

Story: If you are interested in a long, suspenseful thriller then Mirai Nikki is for you. The story is a great ride through a fictional town with various places including schools, hospitals and towers being explored. Each story arc tells the struggle of one of the minor characters, their background and their reason to fight and ultimately become God. I have learnt many things about being human watching this series and hope you can too. And who can forget that ending? Countless have shed tears watching that. BUT, one of the main reasons this show is hated by many is because there are many plot holes. Sometimes you may find yourself asking "wait, how exactly did that happen?" or "why would this thing do that?" but ultimately, at the end of the day it is your choice as to whether you let these plot holes obliterate your enjoyment of this anime or whether you choose to ignore them as I did and enjoy it anyways.

Art: This anime aired in the 2010's, therefore the animation quality is of course going to be good. However, if you are only looking for good animation, then I don't recommend this series as there are better ones, such as Guilty Crown. However, I do believe the team did a very good job with the animation in terms of the quality of the explosions, crumbling towers and various other special effects. I also like the design of many of the characters, namely the two female protagonists and Deus Ex Machina (who is a character).

Sound: The BGM in this anime really help to convey the mood of the scenes, especially the "horror vibe" which is what the series is supposed to do, among others such as a romantic one. My favourite OST by far is "Here with you", which is probably one of the most emotional and beautiful soundtracks you can get out there, which plays during emotional scenes between the male and female protagonists. It functions as my lullaby, study music, relaxation music...ok sorry I'm going off topic now. But you get the idea: it is good. OP 1 is also very good, though I am not a big fan of Japanese singing in English, hence not really OP 2, but both ED's are sugoi, especially 2 which really shows the pain of the female protagonist.

Character: Mirai Nikki has a very good set of characters. The cast are a generally likeable bunch, and of course the seiyu of the female protagonist did a very good job voicing her with that high-pitched voice (I do not recommend dub) and rampage voice. the minor characters all get a share of the development, as each of their backstories, their personalities are all told as well as their reasons for fighting. And my favourite part is that they are not all souless, heartless killers: they act like their personalities. And of course who can forget the Yandere queen herself: as stated she gave me a new definition of love and clingy.

Overall, I highly recommend this anime to you guys. If you don't like it then you don't have to keep watching, but like I said there is so much in this anime that you will be missing out on.
