Thats not true. I really believe anyone can watch this. I think the only issue is the pretentious fans that degrade people who don't understand Serial Experiments Lain. While you may not completely understand Serial Experiments Lain, it's a very interesting watch. Details like the buzzing telephone poles as background noise makes if feel as if the Wired is everywhere, is what made it enjoyable. The art is different and can give the goosebumps at times. The opening theme is really nice, its not engrish... Its actual english. I believe anyone can watch it just for the enjoyment of finding something new.
