Now, are you wondering why I'm, a fan of Kagerou Project, give it THREE out of ten?
Because it's bad. No. It's horrible. I even want to give it TWO rather than three.
Actually, the story has a great potential and interesting. It's unique enough, about the red eyes and superpower that's not so superpower and a secret organization. There are a lot of characters with different characteristics, backgrounds, and tragedies. The music is ... so-so, it's good of course (as expected from Jin), but I'm not a big fan of 'suddenly the singer sing in the background' anime and movies. I prefer instrumental background musics. You can expect a beautiful opening and ending, though.
BUT, I don't know what happened to Jin or what's wrong with the director, the further we go into the series, the more 'plot holes' we found. Here and there, there are a lot of unclear things which then explained (very) poorly. I said that not because I didn't understand. Heck. I watched Durarara!! without confused even once. Maybe because 12 episodes are not enough for the story, so they rushed many things. It's gotten worse because every episode doesn't have the same pace. On one episode I felt like 'what, that's escalated quickly' and on another episode ... I sighed heavily numerous times because it's too sloooow and awfully boring.
I won't comment on the artwork. Honestly, I'm a kind of person who doesn't really bother about artwork in anime. If the story is good, I don't mind poorly drawn animation. However, thanks to Mekakucity Actors, my standard of 'poorly drawn animation' has changed drastically. I can say that THIS is the worst artwork in anime I've ever watched. No. I'm not totally blaming Shaft here. I watched Bakemonogatari and Nisekoi. They have good (if not decent) animation quality. But why Mekakucity Actors became like this? Even the walking scene seemed as if they were walking in a place.
Eventually, I dropped this series. This is quiet rare since I usually prefer to postpone anime I don't really like. I was quite optimistic at the early episode, that in the end everything will be better. Weeks passed and it's gotten worse. I'm not brave enough to watch the ending, since my acquaintance has already told me about it and my heart broken into pieces when I heard that.
Well, though I complained too much, still, if you want to watch it, just go and give it a try. Everyone have their own opinions, and as you can see, there are still a lot of people give this series 7/8 points. However, if you asked me, I will say; no. Don't ever try to bother. It's a waste of time. There are still a lot of better series out there.
