Just finished this anime, and I was relatively delighted with its overall effect. NHK was not much like the scenario I initially read, and it showed flashes of depth that I found very refreshing. The story primarily covers Satou's life, and the changes that he goes through as a person. The action, however, revolves around the characters and their relationships with each other and the world. I read that the manga covered some serious themes regarding sexuality and drug use which were not as strongly present in the anime version, but it did showcase motifs of conformity, depression, suicide, self-worth, and a bit of religion.
NHK was well-created, but there's really very little that happens over the course of the anime. It is occasionally funny, but less than the average anime. I must admit I didn't like the intro and ending songs, but they still felt like they fit well. In several episodes, NHK had several contained songs, which I felt were placed effectively. Plus, by the end, I even liked the Pururin song...
Don't panic if you're thrown off by the conspiracy talk in the synonpsis, because I felt it largely took a backseat to the characters. Some parts felt a bit staged and frustrating, but overall I enjoyed watching Satou try to find his way in the world, by watching others trying to do the same thing.
