Pupa (Anime) add (All reviews)
Jul 20, 2014
I have to admit, when I first heard the premise for this, I was kind of wanting to see it. A sister having to eat the flesh of her brother to remain in control, that is an excellent premise.

This is of course however ruined by the run time ~4 minutes an episode. That's roughly 1 minute less an episode than Hetalia, and Pupa's opening credits are longer so that's even less run time. To compare Hetalia to Pupa is kind of an uneven argument since Hetalia is a Comedy and Pupa is a Horror, but you can get some form of entertainment from hetalia maybe a cheap laugh but it did more than Pupa did. And most of it is censored, because flesh eating, they couldn't even throw us a bone with some kind of gore.

Another thing to consider is if the episodes came out weekly (They may have, not sure) that makes it difficult to truly be interested when you get barely any information from each episode, as if getting one word of a sentence a week. You just don't care anymore.

Tokyo Ghoul has a similar premise to this (Only episode 2 has aired at the time of this review) but as a traditional 23/24 minute run time we're getting more character development, story development and the lore of the world in general.

In summary: Avoid Pupa at all costs, it's a waste of: Time, memory, breath, battery power and internet history.
Watch Tokyo Ghoul instead, it does this ALOT better
