This was my first real dip into the world of anime and manga. Suffice to say it was enough for me to carry on exploring Studio Ghibli and eventually anime programs.

I'm not going to give a massive summary of the story as you can already see it in the synopsis as well as some other reviews. But, if you're a fan of fantasy, steam-punk elements, non-human characters and a story where it just seems to go with the flow, then I'd give this movie a shot.

In my opinion, parts of the story can be confusing at times and at the end you may have a few questions unanswered. This is why I gave it a lower rating in that respect. It may not be for everyone, some of you may feel there isn't enough action- but it's a great adventure story with a lot of imagination.

The art work appealed to me due to my love of landscapes, detailed skies and fantastical towns. Many of the moments would make a perfect wallpaper. AS well as that, the music is based around instruments-quite piano heavy.

However, before watching any Studio Ghibli film make sure to note not to compare them. For example, comparing it to Spirited away ( Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) will not help you make judgement on the film as they are both in different situations and can be enjoyed without any comparison.
