The Future Diary (Mirai Nikki) is one hell of a crazy and entertaining ride. But only as long as you don't look at it too closely, because you'll notice many flaws if you do.

Characters - 7
The main character, 14 year old Yuki, is such a wimp that he makes Shinji Ikari look manly and heroic by comparison. But he's okay otherwise. I can think of a lot more annoying main characters.
The real star of the show is Yuki's overly attached girlfriend Yuno. She's smart, resourceful and completely unpredictable. And for some reason, she's madly in love with Yuki (pun intended).
The main characters and their relationship develop over the course of the show. Yuki gets less wimpy, and Yuno gets... even more insane. There's also a wide variety of interesting and not-so-interesting side characters. Revy from Black Lagoon plays a crazy terrorist bomber and Kaworu from Evangelion plays an amateur detective.

Story - 6
The premise of this show is great. 12 players are selected to participate in a battle royale and given various devices that can predict the future. The winner of the game gets to become the GOD OF THE NEW WORLD (read in a dramatic voice of Light Yagami). But the execution of this idea is not that great. While the overarching story is great, there are plot holes galore and the characters are sometimes made to take unbelievably stupid actions in order to advance the plot or prevent the plot from taking an udesirable path. Also, the future-telling diaries are not really used to their full potential.
As a side note, I feel the need to say that the police in this show are utterly useless. They completely ignore every murder that occurs and sometimes even cooperate with known criminals for their own personal.. wait, maybe this isn't such an unrealistic show after all.

Art & Sound - 9
The character designs are nice (except the mother from the orphanage - what the hell was that?). The animation is good and the action scenes look great. Just a warning (or maybe an incentive): there is a lot of graphic violence and shameless fanservice.
The music was great and really helped in creating the right atmosphere when it needed to. The first opening was especially awesome.

Enjoyment - 9
If you can overlook the plot holes and Yuki's constant crying and Yuno yelling 'Yuki!' every 10 seconds, you should be able to enjoy this show, because it has almost every possible ingredient to make it fun and enjoyable to watch: plenty of action, crazy and shocking plot twists, lots of horror and suspense, interesting and non-conventional romance and... you know - Yuno.
