This is a review for both clannad, and after story. For some odd reason people hate on clannad because it's "contrived, unrealistic, and outright stupid." says one of the top reviewers. I strongly disagree. If that is the opinion you have its because you are completely one-dimensional and you cant see all the times (at least for me) it made me laugh my ass off and how good it set up "after story" which was in my opinion quite amazing. Now, dont get me wrong clannad isnt perfect. In fact its kind of shitty compared to after story but hey, it wasnt supposed to be the masterpiece. I think for what it was supposed to be it was very good and did its job. Although I agree with that reviewer it does "pull on your heartstrings" i think in that regard it does its job which is most important, not if it had the best art or soundtrack or whatever. Since my explanation is done lets get to the review.

I think clannad and its sequel did a good job in setting up a story in which you see a somewhat loser find the right people to have success in life. I wont get t0o deep into the story due to spoilers and MAL already has a synopsis but its basically a story about a delinquent who meets a girl... The girl is quite shy and has a weak body and a terrible illness. They end up helping each other out... The girl helps the delinquent see life as worth living and probably saved him from just giving up. The guy helps the girl meet new friends and grow confidence. The rest is up to you to watch. I think its a great story for a romance school-life comedy drama.

Some will disagree but still the art is pretty good for a story that is just supposed to be hitting your soft spot... which it ends up doing to me at least 20 times in after story.

Same thing yet I must admit the female actor's voices are a bit annoying but they do the job well enough to be able to enjoy the well executed story ;)

However cliché they may seem to be the UBER amount of character development and a story that ends up pulling you closer and closer to the characters just makes an awesome combination that you will give you that feeling for the characters that no matter how stupid it, or the characters may be you end up loving them and never regretting having the feeling.
Enjoyment(9) I really enjoyed the series and just how I felt with spice and wolf, FMA and death note I wish it could continue but it cant
Overall(9) I CANT give it a 10. I CANT. I cant because no matter how well the job is it isnt perfect. It has its flaws. The actors are a bit annoying, they do seem to be really mean in the twists and turns the plots go so I cant give it a perfect 10 but I do have to say WATCH IT! no matter how dumb the other reviews are WATCH IT!
