Stratos 4 is a fun Sci-Fi series focusing mainly on Honjo Mikaze’s struggle to first find her way and then with the other members of her Meteor Sweeper team, realize their dreams. Throughout the anime, humor abounds as well as drama, government conspiracies and plenty of fan service. Attention to technical details is top-notch. A majority of the aircraft and spacecraft are not out of this world, brand new hardware but are retrofitted cold-war era American and Soviet designs. This quite closely mirrors what may actually happen in reality, where we faced with the same situation. That being said, Stratos 4 is neither deep nor hard to understand, it’s there for the fun with a good helping of some light drama and some of the best art direction and animation I’ve seen in a TV series.
