Being an avid fan of the original 1995 Evangelion series, I had high expectations for the remakes. Some may say that Anno's taste is eclectic, but deep in far reaches of my soul I was able to connect with the intensity of scenes that seemingly made little artistic sense. Eva 1.0 and 2.0 served as good recaps after over 14 years, and the deviations were welcomed as an attempt to recapture a modern imbecilic audience that had not feasted their eyes on the 1995-1996 masterpieces. However, Eva 3.0, was just pure shit.

The story made little to no sense. The progression was unclear, and the time skip of 14 years seemed to be more of an excuse to invent new characters and new scenarios than to invest a honest effect to write something coherent. Clearly, Anno has lost his wits. It seemed like Anno had milked the cash cow to such an extent that he could to wave wads of cash spent on extravagant 3D animated scenes.

The one, single, only redeeming aspect of this movie was the Kaworu + Shinji match-up. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Kaworu make his moves on Shinji. If only their finger tips would just meet. I am just tired of seeing Ayanami and Shinji. He clearly does not deserve screen time with her.

On the whole, a dreadful movie.
