Mixed Feelings
Claymore managed to interest me to a point, but ultimately failed to capture my attention.

Our heroine, Claire, is member of an organization that hunts monstrous creatures that prey on humans. With a unique skill-set that makes her and other members both capable of taking on these foes and shunned by regular humans, the stage is set for visceral violence in a gritty medieval setting.

I found the story much like a mildly thrilling roller coaster; at several intervals, I saw drops that should have sent me reeling. Instead I ended up a little elated, and then bored. Understanding that this strikes me as "more to the manga" material, nonetheless I felt little closure by the ending, and very little connection to the setting.

Animation was good, with the battles clearly framed as to not be confusing. No remarkable instances of the series really helped on hindered.

Several of the dub actors came across as exceptionally annoying, which is sad because they've done excellent work in other series. The sub was easier on the ears. Otherwise nothing to write home about.

The characters, with a few exceptions, felt rather unrealized and generic. Claire and a few of her compatriots supplied the only depth in terms of character, and I still didn't feel much attachment or genuine interest.

Especially near the end of the series I was having difficulty paying attention. The first plot-arc was interesting, but afterwards I felt more obligated to finish the series just to see where a few characters turned up in the end.

Overall it's a mildly interesting series that's competently made. I wasn't challenged or engrossed, but neither did I find it intolerable.
