Mixed Feelings
Mirai nikki also known in english as future diary is a 26 episode long series that is about a select few number of people battling each other in a battle royal deathmatch orchestrated by the god of the world deus ex machina. This show is really nothing special despite it having a glimmer of hope in the first few episodes with adding a very original concept of having a specific diary that can tell the future in various ways but all balanced which personally i believed based on setting alone was an anime brilliant enough to rival things such as Fate/zero.
However, sadly this show had an ultimate downfall of making this show a more character driven story which failed as all the characters except gasai Yuno was completely one dimensional an example would be Yuki who is a Shinji hikari type character who is really annoying but unlike Shinji never developes. The show would mainly revolve between the romance of Yuno and Yuki making the show 90% of the time a nightmare to watch due to the actions made by yuki. So why would my enjoyment of this show be an 8/10? because that final 10% is close to being extremely satisfying not only knowing that this discusting monstrosity of a psychological thriller anime was nearly over and the last minute of the anime before the ending credits was brilliant and emotionally compelling. This is a perfect example of why i believe a show can be good if it just has a great ending. However all i can give this show is a 6/10 because instead of being a spectacle in its own right it uses very stereo typical plot devices etc. that are nothing even remotely unique. It was executed soo poorly that it was depressing to watch it could have been an epic that focussed around the battle royal and character motivations of all rounded development but instead introduced side characters that i didn't even in the slightest care about. Also the show revolved an anxious romance between 14 year olds which felt very awkward especially where i was supposed to use my brain to watch because the last time i recall it psychological thrillers require use of a brain. So besides one interesting character, a brilliant ending and an original concept mirai nikki is nothing special instead of watching this i would recommend something in my opinion is way better of the same genres just instead of romance there is mystery and instead of that multi world BS which i saw as nothing more than a plot device there are actual explanations to what happens only if the two seasons are completed. The show is higurashi no naku koro ni this is my first ever review and i hopped you found it useful in your ultimate decision to the show
