I usually try to stay away from long ongoing shonens, but this anime in particular caught my attention. Why? Mainly because I love Hunter X Hunter. (They're made by the same person.) I was reluctant to watch this show at first, I mean, I'm not used to that type of animation. It was made about seven years before I was born, so it's more difficult for me to be immersed into the show. Well trust me, it's incredibly easy to be immersed into. The soundtrack varies from some forgettable pieces, to some awe-inspiring pieces.

Now the characters, my personal favorite part of the show. First up the main protagonist himself Yusuke Urameshi, he starts off as your typical anime douche-bag, then grows throughout the show to become one of the best anime characters I've ever seen, it's kinda ridiculous, one wouldn't think a character could be so enjoyably stupid, and wacky, while being incredibly awesome at the same time. Next up is Kuwabara Kazuma, wow I hated him at first, but damn in the end he was lovable as hell. Third is Hiei, the obligatory badass rival character, because every shonen needs one. Hiei is kind of an ass hole at first glance, and usually makes nothing but snooty remarks, or is making fun of Kuwabara. Finally we have Yoko Kurama, I could go on for days about him, he's badass, kind-hearted, smart, and just generally cool.

I'm going to admit the first 30 episodes are a "little" slow, but once you you get into the Dark Tournament arc, you wont be able to stop watching.

All in all, Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite anime of all time, and I highly recommend it, trust me, you wont regret it. I give Yu Yu Hakusho a almost perfect 9/10.
